Mozambique is a country located in southeastern Africa. It is bordered by South Africa to the south, Swaziland and Zimbabwe to the west, Zambia and Malawi to the northwest, and Tanzania to the north. Mozambique has a population of about 30 million people, and its capital and largest city is Maputo. The official language of Mozambique is Portuguese, and the country's economy is based largely on agriculture, mining, and tourism. Mozambique is a former Portuguese colony and gained independence in 1975.
