Cheap Flights to Camp Bastion

  • Camp Bastion, also known as Camp Shorabak, is a former British military base located in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. It served as the main operating base for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in southern Afghanistan from 2006 to 2014. Camp Bastion was a sprawling complex that included a heavily fortified perimeter, living quarters, dining facilities, medical facilities, and various support infrastructure.
  • At its peak, Camp Bastion housed thousands of personnel, including British, American, and other NATO troops, as well as contractors and Afghan National Security Forces. The base played a critical role in supporting military operations in the region, including providing logistical support, maintenance services, and air operations.
  • The area around Camp Bastion was highly volatile and faced frequent attacks from insurgent groups, particularly the Taliban. The base had its own airfield, which was utilized for both military and civilian flights. The airfield also served as a major hub for helicopter operations, providing crucial support for ground forces and facilitating medical evacuations.
  • Following the drawdown of international forces in Afghanistan, Camp Bastion was gradually handed over to the Afghan National Army. In October 2014, the base was officially transferred to Afghan control, marking the end of its operational role for foreign troops.
