- Wheeler Army Airfield (WAAF) is an Army base located on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. It is part of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and serves as a military airfield for the United States Army. Wheeler AAF shares its runways with Honolulu International Airport and is primarily used for military training and aircraft operations. The airfield is named after Major Sheldon H. Wheeler, a former commander of Luke Field on Ford Island, who was killed in a plane crash in 1921.
