It is one of the highest airports in the world, sitting at an elevation of 3,780 meters (12,402 feet) above sea level. The airport primarily serves as a gateway to the Everest Base Camp trekking route and offers stunning aerial views of the Himalayas. It has a short runway, making it capable of only handling small aircraft such as helicopters and small fixed-wing planes. Due to its location and challenging weather conditions, the airport operates only during daylight hours and has limited flight operations.
