- Edwards Air Force Base, also known as Edwards Airport, is a United States Air Force installation located in Southern California. It is situated in the Mojave Desert, approximately 22 miles northeast of Lancaster and about 35 miles east of Palmdale. Edwards Air Force Base is primarily used for flight testing and research purposes and is well-known for being the site of numerous groundbreaking aerospace advancements. It is also home to the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center.
