- Barksdale Air Force Base (BAFB) is a United States Air Force base located in northwest Louisiana, approximately six miles (10 km) east of Bossier City and 12 miles (19 km) east of Shreveport. Barksdale AFB has a military airport within its premises, known as Barksdale Field. The airport has two runways and serves as a training and operational base for the United States Air Force's strategic bombers, including the B-52 Stratofortress.
