Dragonair

  • Dragonair was a Hong Kong-based regional airline that operated from 1985 to 2016. It was known for providing flights within the Asia-Pacific region, serving destinations in mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent.
  • The airline was initially established as a subsidiary of Cathay Pacific Airways and operated as an independent brand until 2016, when it was merged into Cathay Dragon, a new subsidiary of Cathay Pacific. Dragonair operated a fleet of mainly Airbus A320 family aircraft, with some Boeing 747 and Airbus A330 aircraft for long-haul routes.
  • Dragonair was known for its high-quality service, on-time performance, and extensive network connecting Hong Kong with various regional destinations. It offered both economy and business class services, and passengers could benefit from the frequent flyer program offered by Cathay Pacific Group.
  • After the merger, Dragonair ceased to exist as a distinct brand, and all its flights were operated under the Cathay Dragon name until 2020 when Cathay Dragon was liquidated due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
