Aero Lanka

  • Aero Lanka Airline, also known as Aero Lanka International, was a Sri Lankan airline that operated from 1993 to 1998. It was founded as a joint venture between Air Lanka (now SriLankan Airlines) and the Dubai-based holding company Invision Holdings.
  • Aero Lanka operated a fleet of Boeing 737-200 aircraft and offered both domestic and international flights. Its main hub was Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The airline had destinations in countries like India, Maldives, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand.
  • However, the airline faced financial difficulties and was eventually forced to cease operations in 1998. Aero Lanka struggled to compete with other airlines in the region and was not able to sustain profitability. As a result, it shut down its operations and its assets were absorbed by other airlines.
  • Today, Aero Lanka Airline no longer exists, but SriLankan Airlines remains the flag carrier and main airline of Sri Lanka.
