Ecuavia

  • Ecuavia was a small airline based in Ecuador. It started operations in 2007 and focused primarily on domestic flights within the country. Ecuavia operated a fleet of turboprop aircraft, including the ATR 42 and ATR 72 models, which allowed it to serve smaller regional airports. The airline offered affordable fares and aimed to connect smaller, underserved cities in Ecuador.
  • However, Ecuavia faced financial difficulties and eventually ceased operations in 2010. Its closure was attributed to various factors, including a lack of government support, high operating costs, and fierce competition from other established airlines in the region.
  • Although Ecuavia is no longer in operation, several other airlines continue to serve domestic and international routes within Ecuador, such as TAME, Avianca, and LATAM Airlines.
